Linkwasha Camp

Private concession within the Hwange National Park

Linkwasha Camp is divided into two luxury tented camps – one with seven tents, and the other with three. The area includes many diverse habitats, including Kalahari savannah, acacia woodlands, as well as palm islands and teak forests. This habitat diversity attracts many different animal populations and over 400 species of birds. The area is known for its big game, particularly the predators, as well as large herds of elephants and buffalo. Game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, hides and guided walks form part of the Linkwasha experience. The tented rooms are large and comfortable and are built under thatch. Each room has en-suite facilities including a shower, basin, and flush toilet – and an outdoor shower as well. There is a raised walkway that links each room to each other and the lounge and dining room.

Makalolo Plains Camp

Private concession within the Hwange National Park

Makalolo Plains is situated in a remote area within the vast Hwange National Park. There are excellent opportunities to view game from open 4x4 Land Rovers during the early morning and late afternoon. Foot safaris are also offered by armed guides. The camp is set in a unique location, overlooking the Samavundhla Pan that attracts game in good concentrations. The entire camp is raised up onto wooden boardwalks and platforms, giving guests excellent views over the waterhole and floodplain in front of the camp. Accommodation consists of 9 large, comfortable tented rooms with en-suite shower, toilet and basin all with hot and cold running water. There is an outdoor shower too. There is also a raised dining area, lounge, pub and plunge pool. The camp has hides overlooking the waterhole, which allow guests to enjoy close up game viewing.

Matusadona Water Wilderness

Anchored just offshore on Lake Kariba

Matusadona Water Wilderness is a floating safari camp situated just off the shoreline of Lake Kariba, within Matusadona National Park. The camp consists of unique floating chalets, moored in a secluded bay. Accommodation is in twin bedded rooms each with en-suite flush toilet and shower. Each of the chalets has its own cool verandah with a superb view of the park. The mother craft houses the bar, lounge and dining area. Access between the chalets and the main area is by pontoon. Game viewing is excellent in this area, where the fluctuating lake levels have resulted in a grassland around the lake shore, attracting large herds of antelope, Elephant, Buffalo and a host of predators. Black Rhino are found in the forested areas. Boating, canoeing, 4x4 game drives and walking with a licensed guide, gives guests the complete wildlife experience of the area.

Chikwenya Camp

On Zambezi River in Mana Pools National Park

Chikwenya Camp is situated on the eastern boundary of the Mana Pools National Park overlooking the Zambezi River. Accommodation is in 9 comfortable tented rooms under thatch with en-suite facilities. Each room also has an outdoor and indoor shower. There is a separate lounge and dining area, and a plunge pool. The focal point at Chikwenya is the Zambezi River, its backwaters, and the surrounding flood plains and forests. Chikwenya Island, just offshore, harbours wonderfully diverse wildlife. The area is renowned for its large numbers of Elephant, Buffalo, Hippo, Crocodile, and Eland that concentrate along the river when the inland waterholes dry up – especially in the winter months. Leopard and Lion are in abundance but are not seen as regularly as the other game. Game viewing is enjoyed in open 4x4 vehicles, on motorised canoes, on foot, in hides, and in canoes.

Ruckomechi Camp

On Zambezi River just outside Mana Pools National Park

Ruckomechi is located in a large grove of Acacia and Mahogany trees overlooking the Zambezi River with a superb view of Africa’s Great Rift Valley. The camp accommodates guests in 10 thatched chalets. Facilities are en-suite and include a shower, toilet and basin. One of the camp’s much used facilities is an outside “bath with a view”. The central dining, pub and lounge area is under cool thatch, on the river’s edge, facing the escarpment. Ruckomechi offers diverse game activities, including 4x4 game drives, boats, canoes, fishing and game walks with an armed guide. Predators including Lion, Wild Dog, Leopard, and Cheetah, are often sighted, and large concentrations of Buffalo can be found along the river’s edges. Kudu, Zebra, Impala and Waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains, and Elephant take advantage of the plentiful Albida trees in the area.
